The University of Michigan continued to build its 2027 recruiting class Saturday with the commitment of four-star interior offensive lineman Lincoln Mageo from Oceanside High School in Oceanside, California.

Trench reinforcement for the Wolverines

Mageo, who visited Ann Arbor in early June, announced his pledge to Michigan on July 11. The 6-foot-4, 280-pound lineman selected the Wolverines over finalists Utah and Washington. He came into the process with more than 20 Division I offers, including programs such as Ohio State, Texas and USC.

Michigan now has 21 commits in its 2027 class. Mageo is the fourth offensive line prospect to join the group coached by Jim Harding, joining four-star Jakari Lipsey, three-star Sidney Rouleau and three-star Louis Esposito.

"Strong customer as a drive blocker in the run game," 247Sports scouting analyst Gabe Brooks wrote. "Flashes some heavy-handed pop, particularly when traveling and when helping in pass pro. Enhancing fluidity throughout lower half will raise the ceiling on pass-pro ability. Projects to the P4 level as a candidate to become a run-game enforcer."

How Mageo projects for Michigan

Recruiting services rate Mageo among the top interior linemen nationally and as a notable prospect from California. He was named a Polynesian Bowl All-Star, an honor that highlights his standing among players of Polynesian heritage and other top recruits nationally.

  • Position: Interior offensive line
  • Height/weight: 6-foot-4, 280 pounds
  • High school: Oceanside High School, Oceanside, Calif.
  • Honors: Polynesian Bowl All-Star

The addition of Mageo gives Michigan more depth and options along the interior of the offensive line, a group that will be central to both the Wolverines' running attack and pass protection schemes in coming seasons.

California ranking No. 31
Overall class of 2027 No. 369

Mageo joins a class that, according to 247Sports, was ranked No. 19 nationally prior to his commitment. For Michigan, securing a lineman with his blend of size and run-first traits reinforces the coaching staff's emphasis on building strength up front.

For local fans and followers of the Wolverines' recruiting cycle, Mageo's commitment is another sign that Michigan is continuing to pursue high-end talent across the country, including established recruiting hotbeds like California.

Coverage will continue as Mageo transitions from high school to college football and as Michigan’s coaching staff incorporates him into position meetings and on-field evaluations leading up to his enrollment.
