GILBERT, Ariz. — A fatal two-vehicle collision Friday morning left a woman dead and closed a busy intersection just south of Baseline Road, according to the Gilbert Police Department.

Just after 10 a.m., officers and fire crews responded to a crash at Cooper Road and Merrill Avenue where a pickup hauling a trailer had rolled and an SUV was heavily damaged. Firefighters extricated a woman who had been trapped inside the SUV. She was taken from the vehicle but later died, police said. The driver of the pickup was not injured.
