Herzing University has opened its first Texas campus at 4851 Regent Blvd. in Dallas, expanding the nonprofit’s national footprint to 13 locations and aiming to supply trained technologists to a Dallas–Fort Worth healthcare market that officials say is growing faster than its pipeline of workers.
Short programs meant to meet fast-rising demand
The new campus will offer career-focused programs in Radiologic Technology and Surgical Technology. Enrollment began June 15, and classes are scheduled to start in September. Herzing officials said students can complete the programs in less than two years and that graduates typically enter careers with average annual earnings of about $79,760.
“The Dallas–Fort Worth healthcare system is growing faster than it can find trained professionals to fill the pipeline,” said Pamela Fable, director of campus operations. “That’s exactly the gap Herzing exists to close and why opening our newest campus here made so much sense.”
The campus includes dedicated laboratories that replicate clinical environments, giving students hands-on experience ahead of placements in hospitals, imaging centers and surgical suites. Herzing’s expansion follows a recent campus opening in Clarksville, Tennessee, and extends the university’s reach to nine states plus its online division.
Local and statewide workforce implications
Health providers across Texas have reported rising hiring needs driven by population growth and increasing demand for diagnostic and surgical services. National projections from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics show employment of radiologic technologists growing about 9% nationally; Herzing cited a projected 19% growth in Texas — one of the strongest demand outlooks in the country.
