Three people were injured during an early-morning street takeover near Doral and two drivers remain sought by investigators, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.
The incident occurred around 3:40 a.m. on July 5 at the intersection of Northwest 25th Street and Northwest 76th Avenue, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. Deputies said the crash happened amid an intersection takeover — an unsanctioned gathering of cars that often involves racing, stunts and larger crowds.
What deputies say happened
Investigators determined that a black sedan struck two female victims who were in the roadway. One of those women remained lying in the street as the sedan maneuvered around her and fled the scene, deputies said.
As a man ran toward the injured woman to render aid, he was struck by a separate vehicle described as an older-model gold Ford Expedition with a dark gray lower body. The sheriff’s office said that the Expedition then ran over the female victim who had been lying in the roadway before also fleeing.
“Neither driver stopped to give aid to the three victims, who were taken to a local hospital,” the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said.
Investigation and public appeal
The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the case and is asking anyone with information about the drivers or the vehicles to come forward. Tips can be submitted by calling 305-471-2800.

Street takeovers present a heightened risk to bystanders and participants. Local law enforcement agencies have increasingly focused on tracking and dispersing these gatherings because they can quickly turn dangerous.
