Miami — A southwest Miami Uber ride ended in an arrest after deputies say a 32-year-old woman pulled a pair of scissors and stabbed a male friend during a dispute over drinking a beer inside the vehicle.
What happened
Miami-Dade Police say the incident began Monday night after the pair were picked up outside a hotel and were en route to another friend’s home. Investigators allege the woman, identified as Lynn Marie Zamora, wanted to open a beer during the trip. The male passenger repeatedly told her drinking inside the rideshare was not allowed, according to the arrest report.
Authorities say the argument escalated and Zamora allegedly produced scissors from her purse and stabbed the man in the left bicep and left calf. The Uber driver stopped the vehicle immediately; the driver and victim exited, and someone at the scene called 911, the sheriff’s office said.
Aftermath and charges
Deputies arrested Zamora at the scene. The victim was taken to a hospital and treated for injuries described by law enforcement as not life-threatening. Zamora was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, Miami-Dade authorities reported.
Prosecutors told the court that Zamora was on probation in an unrelated battery case, the arrest report indicates. Officials have not released further details about that prior matter.
Ride-hailing response and safety context
Uber’s community rules prohibit consuming alcohol during trips and permitting open containers inside vehicles. Following the incident, an Uber spokesperson said the company permanently removed Zamora from the platform and will cooperate with law enforcement.
