International supplier brings assembly capacity to Phoenix
Phoenix has added another link to its semiconductor supply chain with the opening of a new U.S. facility by Taiwan’s Cica-Huntek Chemical Technology. The company said Monday its U.S. subsidiary has fully completed and activated plant and office space in the city after an investment aimed at supporting high-end production systems for North American chipmakers.
The company purchased and finished out a 25,880-square-foot site and invested approximately $8 million in the Phoenix facility, according to the company announcement. Executives described the plant as a high-specification location offering warehousing and plans for cleanrooms where local assembly of chemical delivery systems will occur.
“What Cica-Huntek exports to the U.S. market is not only professional core equipment but also the highest specification of management thinking that fully complies with U.S. OSHA regulations and ISO certifications,” said Watson Tseng, general manager of Cica-Huntek's U.S. subsidiary.
The company framed the move as part of a broader strategy to provide faster, “real-time” service to core customers in the semiconductor industry, leveraging experience in advanced process technologies. Cica-Huntek positions itself as a supplier of Chemical Delivery Systems (CDS), equipment that supports critical cleaning and chemical distribution steps inside semiconductor fabs and advanced packaging operations.
What this means for Phoenix
For Phoenix, where semiconductor manufacturing and supplier networks have expanded in recent years, the arrival of Cica-Huntek reinforces a pattern: global vendors establishing local footholds to shorten supply lines and speed responsiveness. Local assembly and warehousing can reduce lead times for fabs and provide on-the-ground support during rapid ramp-ups.
The Arizona Commerce Authority welcomed the investment. Sandra Watson, the authority’s president and CEO, said the project highlights Arizona’s appeal to semiconductor investors: “We are excited to welcome Cica-Huntek to Arizona, showcasing Arizona’s global attractiveness for semiconductor investment,” she said.
- Company: Cica-Huntek Chemical Technology USA Corp.
- Investment: approximately $8 million
- Facility size: 25,880 square feet with warehousing and planned cleanrooms
Officials noted the facility will follow U.S. regulatory and certification standards, including OSHA and ISO frameworks, and the company said it has built a localized team with experience in advanced processes such as 2nm and advanced packaging technologies.
Broader context and local consequences
Arizona has aggressively courted semiconductor investment in recent years, and Phoenix-area manufacturers and suppliers have benefited from that growth. Facilities like the one Cica-Huntek opened aim to support fabs by delivering specialized equipment and services closer to customers — a trend that can lower downtime risk for plants reliant on tight schedules and precise chemical handling.
For Phoenix residents, this development may translate into more skilled job opportunities within supplier operations, expanded local service capacity for existing manufacturers, and a deeper industrial base that could attract further investment. While the announcement did not detail employment numbers or an exact timeline for cleanroom completion, the company’s stated focus on local assembly suggests new technical positions could follow as operations scale.
As supply chains for semiconductors remain a national strategic priority, Phoenix continues to position itself as a regional hub where international suppliers can establish U.S. operations. Cica-Huntek’s facility is the latest example of that push, underscoring how global industrial networks are increasingly placing resources and people in the Valley to support high-tech manufacturing.
