Columbus police are investigating after an 11-year-old boy was shot late Wednesday, July 8, in the 800 block of Apex Road and later died at a local hospital, authorities said.
What happened
Officers responded to reports of gunfire at 10:08 p.m., according to a post on the Columbus Police Department’s X account and information provided by CPD. The boy was transported to a local hospital where Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan said he was pronounced dead at 10:49 p.m.
“The victim has been identified as 11-year-old Kadin Harris,” Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan said in a statement.
Investigation under way
Investigators from the Columbus Police Department’s Crime Scene Investigations Division and Violent Crimes Unit processed the scene. At least seven evidence markers were placed in the area, according to police reporting. The investigation remains active and no arrests or charges have been announced.
