A pedestrian was fatally struck Monday night by three vehicles in a series of hit-and-run collisions on Ocean Boulevard in Long Beach, city police said.
Officers responded at about 11:44 p.m. to reports of a collision near Golden Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department. Responding Long Beach Fire Department personnel located an adult man lying in the roadway and pronounced him dead at the scene.
What investigators have released
Police say the sequence began when an unidentified black vehicle was traveling east in the No. 2 lane of Ocean Boulevard and struck the pedestrian while he was crossing north, outside a crosswalk. The driver of that vehicle continued east without stopping.
After that initial impact, the pedestrian was struck by two additional vehicles—a white truck and a red sedan—and neither driver remained at the scene, authorities said.

The department has not released the victim’s name pending formal identification and family notification. Police did not indicate whether charges have been filed; the case remains under investigation.
