Alaska Airlines is adding a seasonal nonstop flight between Spokane International Airport (GEG) and Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) in Honolulu, the carrier announced Tuesday. The service runs Saturdays from Dec. 19, 2026, through April 17, 2027, using a Boeing 737 Max.
Schedule and connections
The Saturday outbound will depart Spokane at 9 a.m., arriving in Honolulu at 2:03 p.m. local time. The return leg departs Honolulu at 2:33 p.m. and arrives back in Spokane at 10:42 p.m. The route will also offer same‑day connections to Maui (Kahului), Kauai (Līhue) and the Big Island (Kona and Hilo), expanding travel options between the Inland Northwest and Hawaii.
Why the route matters
Spokane Airports officials and the airline framed the service as a response to persistent passenger demand. Spokane Airports CEO Dave Haring said in a news release that nonstop Honolulu service had long been a growth target. Passenger traffic patterns cited by the airport noted that more than 230 passengers originate daily from the Inland Northwest to Hawaii, underscoring a steady market for seasonal direct flights.
"Hawaii has long been a favorite destination for Inland Northwest travelers, and nonstop Honolulu service has been one of the top requests from our Spokane-area guests," said Kirsten Amrine, vice president of revenue management and network planning at Alaska Airlines.
Alaska Airlines emphasized that the new flight will be the only nonstop carrier linking eastern Washington and Hawaii during the winter season. The service is positioned to serve leisure travelers heading to Oahu and the Neighbor Islands, and to provide a nonstop link for visitors from Hawaii to the Inland Northwest for family, work, school or recreation.
Practical notes for travelers
- Service operates once weekly on Saturdays from Dec. 19, 2026, through April 17, 2027.
- Aircraft type: Boeing 737 Max.
- Flight times: depart GEG 9 a.m.; arrive HNL 2:03 p.m. Return departs HNL 2:33 p.m.; arrives GEG 10:42 p.m.
Alaska Airlines also announced seasonal expansions on other routes, including nonstop service from Boise to Honolulu and increased flights between Honolulu and Las Vegas. The carrier said flight times may be adjusted slightly in early 2027 and directed customers to its website for the latest schedule details.
This seasonal route gives Spokane-area travelers a direct winter link to Hawaii and further integrates Alaska Airlines’ Pacific network, while offering Hawaiian residents a nonstop option to reach the Inland Northwest. For communities in eastern Washington and northern Idaho, the service could reduce connections and travel time for popular winter and holiday travel periods.
