The Lowline Hotel opened this week on King Street in downtown Charleston, introducing a 197-room lifestyle property to the city’s hospitality scene as part of the JdV by Hyatt portfolio.

Design and accommodations inspired by Charleston

Transformed from the former Hyatt Place Charleston Historic District after acquisition by Highline Hospitality Partners in late 2024, the hotel’s interiors were developed by Ealain Studio and draw on the region’s maritime history and historic architecture. Public areas and guest rooms use rich navy tones, warm oak finishes and wrought-iron–inspired details meant to evoke Charleston’s seafaring past and its intimate courtyards.

Guest rooms aim to feel residential, centered on custom headboards that incorporate stylized sandhill crane imagery native to the area. Rooms also feature marble beverage cabinets and brass hardware, according to the property’s opening materials.

Food, drink and social spaces for locals and travelers

Dining venues at the property emphasize Lowcountry flavors and day-to-night service. Leeward Restaurant and Leeward Patio offer regionally inspired menus, while Lowline Spirited Coffee & Provisions serves mornings with PERC Coffee from Savannah. The rooftop Pour Taproom pairs skyline views with local and regional craft beers and daily programming that includes an afternoon Martini Hour and late-night Snack Hour.

The hotel also includes a private social entertainment space called The Long Game at Leeward, equipped with a golf simulator, large-screen televisions and access to the full food and cocktail menu for private events.

Amenities and event capacity

For meetings, weddings and celebrations, Sterling Hall provides nearly 8,000 square feet of adaptable indoor event space. Other on-site amenities include an indoor pool, fitness center and valet parking. The property sits at 560 King Street, within walking distance of Charleston’s restaurants, galleries, boutiques and historic sites.
