New York City FC II announced the signing of defender Adonis Campos to a contract that runs through June 30, 2028, the club said Friday. Campos, an 18-year-old who joined the club’s Academy in 2019, is the latest Academy graduate to enter the professional ranks with the MLS NEXT Pro affiliate.
Pathway from Academy to professional ranks
Campos made his debut for New York City FC II on Oct. 5, 2025, starting and playing the entire final match of that season. He has continued to feature for the "Pigeons" in MLS NEXT Pro, making nine starts in 10 appearances during the 2026 season and recording one assist.

What this means locally
The signing underscores New York City FC’s continued investment in its Academy-to-pro pipeline. Campos, a New Jersey native who progressed through the club’s youth system starting in 2019, joins other young players using MLS NEXT Pro minutes to bridge Academy football and Major League Soccer opportunities.

| 2026 | 10 | 9 | 1 |
For local supporters of New York City FC and followers of the city’s soccer development, Campos’ contract provides another example of the club converting Academy talent into professional players in the region. The extension to mid-2028 gives both the club and the player time to evaluate his readiness for higher-level competition while continuing regular minutes with NYCFC II.
