The Palm Beach International Airport was formally renamed the President Donald J. Trump International Airport on Thursday, officials announced, a change that state lawmakers authorized earlier this year and that will be implemented in phases.
What changes for travelers and the community
Airport leaders emphasized the renaming is a branding move and said daily operations will not be disrupted. Flight routes, schedules and the airport’s governance remain the same, according to the facility’s website.
- Signage updates: physical signs inside and outside terminals will be changed over time.
- Terminal and digital branding: staff are updating terminal spaces, social media and other public-facing materials.
- Operations: the airport stated that services, routes and scheduling will continue without interruption.
The renaming follows legislation signed in March by Gov. Ron DeSantis after the Florida Legislature passed a bill to give the airport the President’s name. The Trump Organization had earlier filed trademark applications for potential airport names tied to the president.
Symbolic first landing and local context
Airport social accounts showed the new name on Thursday morning. The President’s son, Eric Trump, said his father’s plane — which he said the president was aboard — was the first to land at the newly branded airport.
“There is no person who has done more for Florida and our country, and no one more deserving of this incredible honor,” Eric Trump wrote on X. “As a son, and someone who flies out of this airport nearly every day, I will forever be proud to see the initials ‘DJT’ on my boarding pass.”
The move makes the Palm Beach facility one of several U.S. airports bearing the names of presidents. New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport is an example often cited of that tradition. But this facility is notable for being renamed while the namesake occupies the White House.

Airport officials told the public that ownership and governance of the facility will not change as part of the rebranding. They asked travelers and partners to expect a phased rollout of new signs and materials as crews complete the updates.
The airport serves as a frequent arrival and departure point for the President because of its proximity to the Mar-a-Lago estate, a factor cited in legislative discussion about the change.
Local residents and travelers can continue to use the airport as usual while the transition proceeds, officials said.
