SPRINGDALE — Randy Joe Cox, 63, a Springdale resident known locally as a devoted teacher, husband and church member, died Saturday, July 4, after a prolonged battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully with his wife at his side.
Family, faith and a career in education
Cox was born June 9, 1963. He married Sandra Cox on Dec. 21, 1983; the couple built a life centered on faith and family and were married more than 42 years. The family described him as a faithful member of First Baptist Church Centerton.
After an earlier career, Cox spent two decades in the classroom as a math teacher. Colleagues and students often noted his ability to make mathematical concepts accessible and his quick wit in the classroom. He is remembered for a warm, patient teaching style and for the genuine care he showed pupils.
Survivors and service information
Cox is survived by his wife Sandra; three children — Jessica Bull (Nathan), Stephanie (Annie) Bennett (partner Mitchell), and Michael (Mac) Cox (Jesse) — and grandchildren Hunter, Arlen, Leah Bull and Roran Bennett. He also leaves behind several siblings and in-laws.
