SALT LAKE CITY The Utah Mammoth released their 2026-27 National Hockey League regular-season schedule on Thursday, a calendar that begins Oct. 1 at the Delta Center and includes the team’s appearance in the 2027 Winter Classic at the University of Utah’s Rice-Eccles Stadium.

What changes for fans

The NHL has returned to an 84-game regular season for the first time since 1993-94. The Mammoth will play 41 home games at the Delta Center and will open the season on Thursday, Oct. 1, against the Chicago Blackhawks.

After the home opener, Utah faces a heavy early travel load: the club plays 13 of its next 18 games on the road, including a five-game trip from Oct. 3-10 and a six-game road stretch from Oct. 29-Nov. 11.

  • Home opener: Oct. 1 vs. Chicago Blackhawks.
  • Five-game road trip: Oct. 3-10.
  • Six-game road stretch: Oct. 29-Nov. 11.
  • Five straight home games: Nov. 12-21 (second-longest homestand).
  • Six consecutive home games: Jan. 23-Feb. 2.

Outdoor game at Rice-Eccles

In addition to its Delta Center dates, the Mammoth will host the Colorado Avalanche in the 2027 Winter Classic on Thursday, Dec. 31, at Rice-Eccles Stadium. The Winter Classic is the NHL’s annual outdoor regular-season game; this will be the league’s 18th Winter Classic and the 47th outdoor regular-season contest overall.

How the slate is structured

The expansion to 84 games changes the divisional matchup balance for Utah:

Opponent group Games vs. each
Central Division (7 teams) 4
Pacific Division (8 teams) 3
Eastern Conference (16 teams) 2

Last season the Mammoth posted winning or .500 records against each division: 14-8-2 vs. the Pacific, 13-11-2 vs. the Central and 16-14-2 vs. the Eastern Conference.

Tickets and schedule access

The club said the full game schedule was released with times listed in Mountain Time and presented by SeatGeek. The Mammoth's complete schedule and ticketing information are available through the team’s official channels.

Fans planning trips to Rice-Eccles for the Winter Classic should note that outdoor venue logistics and crowd protocols typically differ from arena events; those details will be provided closer to the game date.

This schedule announcement sets the framework for the Mammoth’s second full season in Utah under the league’s expanded slate. The team, arena operators and the University of Utah will now move toward operational planning for multiple lengthy road stretches and a high-profile outdoor New Year’s Eve matchup.
